VILLAGE AND TOWNSHIP OFFICES CLOSED FOR MEMORIAL DAY

The Village and Township Offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th. Solid waste collection will be delayed one day all week. Have a safe holiday.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE & CARNIVAL

The 32nd annual Memorial Parade and Carnival will be held on Monday, May 27th. The parade begins at 11:00 am leaving the Groves High School parking lot, traveling north on Evergreen to Beverly Road and east on Beverly to Beverly Park. The carnival is from Noon to 3:00 pm. A special dedication ceremony will take place at 1:00 pm by the flag pole to honor those who have served our country with a new veterans memorial monument. Rides, games, and food will also be available.

VILLAGE-WIDE GARAGE SALE

The 5th annual Village-wide garage sale is Friday, May 31, Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2. Participants are required to obtain a permit from the Village Office for $3. Please consider donating any leftovers to a local charity instead of throwing them away. A list of participants will be available late in the afternoon Thursday, May 30.

ERITY DAM REPORT FROM HUBBELL, ROTH AND CLARK

Engineering firm Hubbell, Roth and Clark prepared a report regarding the two dams near Riverside Park. The report was presented at the May 21, 2013 Council meeting.

ROUGE RESCUE - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

OAKLAND COUNTY MOBILE OFFICE

The Oakland County Register of Deeds will be setting up a Mobile Office in the Southfield Township Office on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Residents will have an opportunity to obtain copies of birth and death certificates, and property documents such as mortgages and deeds. For more information click here.

NEW SIGN ORDINANCE

The Village Council adopted a new sign ordinance at their meeting on April 2, 2013. The ordinance will go into effect April 27, 2013. The ordinance can be viewed at the Village office or click here.

PARK MASTER PLAN UPDATE

The Village Council adopted the new Community Recreation Plan at their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. The Plan can be viewed at the Village office or click here.

JOINT SENIOR SERVICES COMMITTEE MID-TERM REPORT

In 2012, the governing bodies of the Birmingham Area Seniors Coordinating Council, Birmingham Public Schools, City of Birmingham, Southfield Township, Villages of Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms and Franklin created an advisory committee to be known as the Joint Senior Services Committee. This Committee was formed to compare and contrast current senior services, develop a consensus through public input as to what level of senior services citizens need and want and to prepare recommendations regarding funding and governance models. They have completed a mid-term report.

DISPOSING OF COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS

Need to dispose of used Compact Fluorescent Light Blubs (CFLs)? Don't throw them in the trash. Call the SOCRRA HHW appointment line at 248-288-5153. Morning or afternoon appointments (3 hour time block) can be scheduled. Make the trip worthwhile! Check around your home to see if you have any old paint, pesticides, outdated medicines, insulin syringes, gas, oil, etc. and bring them in during the same appointment. PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

USED CELL PHONE COLLECTION

The Township of Southfield is accepting used cell phones which will be sent to Secure The Call Foundation, a non-profit organization that refurbishes cell phones for 911 emergency calls. The Township's address is 18550 W 13 Mile Road and their phone number is (248) 540-3420.

ADOPT-A-ROAD

At their regular meeting on April 17, 2007, the Village Council approved a new program for Beverly Hills called "Adopt-A-Road". This program allows volunteer workers to remove roadside debris and refuse on Village roads. Volunteer groups interested in adopting any mile(s) of roadway must submit an application to the Village. Village Council Meetings
