REGULATIONS
Be sure to have trash placed at the curb or road side edge by 7:00 am and not
earlier than 5:00 pm the day preceding collection. It is required that empty containers
be removed by 7:00 am the day following collection. |

APPROVED
GARBAGE, RUBBISH AND RECYCLING CONTAINERS All garbage and rubbish must
be placed in containers no larger than 35 gallons with handles or in 2-mil plastic
garbage bags. Plastic bags shall not weigh more than forty (40) pounds. Cans shall
not weigh over sixty (60) lbs. Recyclables are to be placed in the green 18 gallon
recycling bin which should not weigh more than forty (40) lbs. Please separate
trash and recyclables several feet apart. |

BRUSH
AND BRANCHES Brush is generally considered to be branches larger than
2 inches in diameter. Small twigs are not considered brush and should be placed
with yard waste. Branches
should be cut into lengths of 4 to 4 1/2 feet, bundled with twine and placed at
the curb on collection day. Bundles cannot weigh more than 40 pounds. Please set
bundles so large end of branches is closest to the street. |

LOGS,
FIREWOOD AND LUMBER These items are not brush. Logs or firewood must be
cut to 2 foot lengths or less, bundled and set to the curb for trash collection.
Untreated, unpainted lumber (2x4s and 4x4x) can also be composted. Please cut
in lengths no taller than a yard waste bag or yard waste container weighing no
more than 50 lbs. Please remove nails. |

SPECIAL
ITEMS (APPLIANCES) Large metal items such as refrigerators (remove door
& set next to unit), stoves, washers, dryers and hot water tanks and lawn
mowers (remove gas, oil & plug) are picked up on your regular trash day. |

LARGE
ITEMS Large items such as console TVs, sofas, mattresses and household
furniture are picked up on your regular rubbish day. Very large items like a swing
set must be broken down into sections. |

DEMOLITION
MATERIAL Items such as wood (please remove nails), gutters, and pipe must
be cut into three (3) foot lengths, and tied in bundles not exceed forty (40)
pounds. |

CARPETING
Carpeting must be tied in bundles no wider than four (4) feet and not exceeding
60 lbs. |

ITEMS
THE VILLAGE WILL NOT PICK UP Liquids, radioactive items, flammable products,
explosives, infectious materials, asbestos insulation, tires, hazardous waste,
tree stumps, engines, transmissions, rear axles, construction items from a private
contractor's work, bricks, broken concrete or dirt. Please call SOCRRA (248) 288-5153
for methods and services available for disposing of such material. |

HOLIDAY
COLLECTION SCHEDULE When a scheduled refuse collection day falls on New
Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas,
collections will be one day later. Example: Monday schedule will be collected
on Tuesday. If the holiday falls on a weekend, trash collection will not be interrupted. |

HOUSEHOLD
HAZARDOUS WASTE Call 248-288-5153 for an appointment to drop off special
household waste such as: paint, turpentine, mineral spirits, pesticides, medicines,
fuel oil, batteries, etc. |

EQUIPMENT |

Appointment Only - Please call the Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program
at (248) 288-5153. The phone is sporadically staffed from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday. You must have an appointment since walk-ins are not accepted. This
Special Household Waste program offers residents a convenient and effective means
of disposing of those household waste products that require special handling,
processing and disposal, such as paints, solvents, garden chemicals, household
cleaners, automotive products, insulin syringes, fluorescent light bulbs, oils
and other household hazardous waste from homes, NOT businesses. Please visit the
SOCRRA website, www.socrra.org for a complete
list of acceptable items. SOCRRA
also accepts Computers and other Electronics at its drop off center. Call (248)

drop-off center is located at 995 Coolidge Road (between 14 and 15 Mile Roads
across the street from Meijer). |
