Buckthorn is an invasive species that spreads quickly and crowds out native shrubs and understory plants. The Village has made an effort over the past few years to remove this invasive species from our parks. Our contractors, GEI Consultants, are scheduled to resume buckthorn eradication at Beverly Park and Riverside Park the week of January 24, 2022. This round of treatment is expected to take 3-4 weeks depending on the weather. Please stay out of the treated area for 24 hours after treatment. Please note, the Beverly Park treatment zones have been expanded and will include the sides of the sled hill, the fence line along Allerton Drive, and the south fence line.
